hangover cure

This Irish woman flew all the way to Vancouver to give her hungover brother a Lucozade

Well if anyone deserves a World’s Best Sister mug…

THERE ARE GREAT siblings, and then there’s DJ Claire Beck, who flew over 7000km to ensure her brother wouldn’t have the hangover from hell.

Claire’s brother Declan (or to use her nickname for him, Derris) moved to Vancouver a few years ago and married a Canadian woman – they have a daughter, and another kid on the way.

Declan has only been home once since 2012, and while Claire has been over “a handful of times” to visit, they haven’t seen each other for a year and a half.

Last night was his office Christmas party, so Claire decided to surprise him by flying over with a very Irish hangover cure. She told the story on Twitter as she waited for her flight:

He’s not a big Tayto or Cadburys guy, but apart from Guinness and me (obviously) the main thing he misses from home is going to the fridge to get an ice cold Lucozade after a heavy night out. Canada is fierce health conscious, they don’t have it there.
And that is why I’m flying this bottle of Lucozade over 7000km in time for Derris getting home from his Christmas office party. He has NO IDEA I’m coming and I cannot wait to see his face.

After a day of delayed flights and cheeky airport pints, Claire finally arrived in Vancouver – and Declan arrived home from his Christmas party.

“What are you doing here you lunatic? You’re a nutbag.” <3

In the middle of all this, Lucozade were in touch, promising to send some more bottles of the good stuff over to Declan.

It’s a true Christmas miracle! Consider our hearts warmed.
