JANE ORANIKA IS a twenty-year-old singer, rapper and poet from Alabama. To celebrate Pride Month, she has written and performed a rap over the instrumental of Ed Sheeran’s hit Shape of You.

It hasn’t even been online for 24 hours, but it has already been favourited 18,000 times on Twitter. Let’s just say it’s a lot better than Same Love by Macklemore.

The first verse Jane raps was written by herself and she then goes on to replace Ed’s chorus with these lyrics:

I will not be ashamed, this is just who I am and who I was meant to be. No mistakes, right here I stand. I’m out on my own two feet. No, you will not tear me down.

After people on Twitter begged, Oranika put the full version of the song can be found on her Soundcloud. Here’s the album art:

There has been a pretty big response to the song on Twitter.

Including a virtual standing ovation:

And a couple of OMFGs.

Judging by how the internet works, it’s only a matter of time before Ed Sheeran spots it and this girl ends up on Ellen.
