HEALTH MINISTER LEO Varadakar’s announcement last week that he’s gay has travelled across the Atlantic and found its way into a joke on this week’s Saturday Night Live.
As part of the comedy show’s ‘weekend update’ Varadkar was not referred to by name by Colin Jost, but was described as:
… becoming the first openly gay government figure in Irish history.Of course in Ireland ‘gay’ just means you have less than eight kids.
Reaction online was minimal, but largely critical:
