free breakfast friday

These Dubliners went to every McDonald's in the city to take *full* advantage of the free brekkie

“Ba da ba ba baaa… we’re taking advantage.”

THIS MORNING, McDonald’s restaurants around the country were swarmed with people taking advantage of Free Breakfast Friday.

Technically, they probably only want you to get one free McMuffin, but a few brave souls out there went to see how far they could push it.

Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson and Alan Farrell of the band Bad Sea were two of those brave souls, embarking on an epic odyssey through all the McDonald’s outlets in Dublin.

Why did they do it? For the love of a McMuffin, Ciara told DailyEdge.ie:

For the glory, for the craic, for the 12 free McMuffins. As a band we are very passionate about McDonald’s and fast food in general.
Yesterday, while we were in McDonald’s after band rehearsal, Alan made a route and a schedule that involved us looping around the city centre so that our last stop would be the Ilac Centre, my spiritual home.

They rose at 6am and, over the course of an hour, stopped off at all six of the city centre locations, picking up a McMuffin in each one.

Ciara chronicled their journey on the band’s Instagram story:

They ended up with 12 delicious but most importantly free McMuffins – and as of 2pm, all but two have been eaten. Mighty work.

And they weren’t the only ones traversing Dublin for McMuffins this morning – Ciara spotted quite a few people at it:

We noticed a very cute couple doing the exact same thing as us for the last three restaurants, also filling their backpacks like we were. Then there were loads of schoolkids having the time of their absolute lives getting as many as they could out of the two [restaurants] on O’Connell Street.

“I’m currently trying to get in contact with McDonald’s for sponsorship. Hoping they’ll fund our album.”

An inspiration to all of us who have dreamed of fighting the system.
