AS PRESIDENTS GO, Michael D Higgins has one of the best collections of impromptu photographs that you’re likely to find among all the world leaders.
And last weekend there was another instant classic added to the pantheon.
The President was out and about on Salthill Prom in Galway when a passerby spotted him chatting away to a man with a budgie on his shoulder

He was walking away saying hello to many but this man seemed to catch his attention – and in typical Galway fashion it just happened. He always walks the prom when home.
You have to love Galway!
This is already up there with the BMX photo in terms of sheer spontaneous beauty.
