Guy who set up Kickstarter campaign to make potato salad raises $46k

And the campaign still has three weeks to go!

EARLIER THIS MONTH, Zack Danger Brown started a Kickstarter funding campaign so he could make a potato salad.

His original goal was $10, but as people heard about his campaign, support rapidly grew and soon he had raised $1,300.

Now, thanks to appearances on US daytime television and press coverage of the campaign all around the world, he’s at $46,410 and the donations show no sign of stopping.

He’s promised backers bites of the potato salad, a photo of himself making the salad, and potato salad-themed haikus, hats, and t-shirts. Oh – and the chance to have their name carved into the VERY POTATO he will be making the potato salad with.

In his last goal update, he said that if he made $3000 he would throw a potato salad party for all the internet.

According to a blog post from Wednesday, Zack is currently organising the party and figuring out what to do with the excess funds.

D’you think he’d spare a few quid to fly us over to the potato salad party? Go on, Zack. We’ll bring a few healthy Irish potatoes for you.
