The cast of Derry Girls appeared on The Crystal Maze last night and it was a real hit with viewers

Even Aisling Bea loved it.

IT’S BEEN FAR too long since we’ve seen the Derry Girls in action, but thankfully, the drought has come to an end.

That’s because last night, they joined Richard Ayoade on The Crystal Maze.

From the very beginning, the game show was full of laughs, with pretty much all of the jokes aimed at the wee English fella, Dylan Llewellyn.

Before the challenges began, Richard welcomed the team to the outer room of the Crystal Maze. He joked, “You are in a sitcom together… and you’re probably still imagining you might end up friends. Wonderful.” We take it he hasn’t heard from Chris O’Dowd in a while.

Reading from his cards, Richard said, “Well, look at this.”

The main statement here is that none of you think that Dylan will perform well today. That’s on the sheet Dylan. The type-out does not lie. Dylan, who everyone doubts. I’m sorry Dylan. It’s bloody tough. You don’t get used to it. You calcify, you harden up, you try and protect yourself and you cry in your room, like we all do. It bloody hurts.

To be honest, it was like watching the Derry Girls in character for the entire thing, only with different accents. Look how scared Dylan was to talk, for God’s sake.

Viewers loved seeing the gang on TV again.

When Aisling Bea saw a clip of them on the show, she told Nicola Coughlan that she wanted to put the team in a box and display them at parties.

If you didn’t catch it last night, it’s on All 4 now and would make some very entertaining and soothing hangover TV.
