bigger hero

That Wicklow man at Wimbledon sent a lovely tweet to Kim Clijsters following their antics on court

And she got back to him.

OVER THE WEEKEND, Chris Quinn from Greystones has become an overnight viral sensation around the world after he was invited on to return a serve at Wimbledon on Friday.

The hilarious clip has been viewed many millions of times across YouTube and Facebook, and covered by virtually every major sports news outlet globally:

All the players, the fans and Chris himself were creasing themselves laughing throughout

And when a Belgian website tweeted about the moment, tagging Kim Clijsters, Chris got back with a lovely message for her

The best:

Thank you for going easy on me with the serve. You have made me a bigger hero to my 3 daughters who worship you BTW.

Once a GIF of the incident made it to the front page of Reddit last night, the “wholesome” tweet was one of the top voted comments.

Clijsters responded to yesterday afternoon – just as the story was going viral

Sound on and off the court.

What a moment to remember.
