Thief sends money and letter of apology for taking extra piece of chicken in buffet

How could they?

AS FAR AS we’re concerned, a buffet is the wild west of the restaurant world. Anything goes, leave rules at the door. What happens in the buffet stays in the buffet.

A fried chicken fan in Nebraska however, felt so guilty that they took an extra piece of chicken home with them, sent a handwritten apology and two dollars to cover the cost.

The manager of the North Platte KFC branch Rocky Rasmussen told the NP Telegraph that the letter was mailed to the restaurant unsigned.

It read:

“This $2 is for the piece of chicken I brought home with me on Tuesday. That’s stealing. Sorry! I took more on my plate than I could eat and I knew it would get thrown away there because it couldn’t get put back on the buffet, so I put it in my purse and brought it home. Anyway, God has forgiven me and I hope you will too. I will not be so quick to take so much next time.”

He suspects the handwriting indicates that the guilty writer is a female.

It seems as if her conscience got the best of her. People don’t pay for everyone in the family or will fill the last plate and it goes into a plastic bag in a purse. It’s an ongoing problem.

However, the incident has brought back his faith in customers a little.

Whoever it was probably doesn’t have a lot of money. To send a couple bucks back to us is pretty remarkable. It’s very touching.
