Yes boi.

THE YOUNG OFFENDERS opened to rave reviews in Irish cinemas last year, while taking in a record haul at the domestic box office and faring very well when it moved across the water in January of this year.

The movie focuses on teenage pals Conor and Jock and might just be the most Cork thing to ever hit the big screen.

And today it’s been added to Netflix in the UK and Ireland:

Yes.

The movie is inspired by one of Ireland’s bigget cocaine seizures, Operation Seabight. A total of €440 million worth of the drug was found off the coast of Cork in 2007, in a yacht carrying 70 bales of the substance.

Conor and Jock attempt to find a rogue bale of cocaine left behind from the haul and take a 160km road trip on bikes they stole.

Now it’s just waiting to be gobbled up by anyone who didn’t catch it in the cinema

And, let’s be fair, those that did and want a repeat viewing.

When it made it to UK cinemas, the reviews were glowing – like this take from The Guardian:

The humour here is spot on, it’s the most perceptive comic portrait of the adolescent male since The Inbetweeners, but with a naturalism that is unexpectedly disarming.

While here at home it was equally appreciated, with The Irish Times calling it a “hugely funny, genuinely sweet Irish comedy”.

Here’s the trailer to whet the appetite:

Yesterday the film starring Alex Murphy, Chris Walley and Hilary Rose was nominated for the IFTA for Best Film, among six other nomination nods.

Nearly everyone who saw it in the cinema had nothing but praise

What a nice surprise.
