WE’VE SEEN MANY crimes against sandwiches, but this… This is something else.

Last night, race car driver Dale Earnhardt Jr shared this picture of his ‘favourite sandwich’ on Twitter:

Yes, that’s a banana and mayonnaise on white bread.

“I swear it’s delicious.” Dale, forgive us, but we’re going to need more convincing than that. Unsurprisingly, people are seriously questioning his ability to sandwich:

A bit of hunting reveals that the banana and mayo sandwich is a delicacy in southern US states like Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee. There’s even a Facebook page dedicated to the foodstuff.

But while the rest of the world is more than a little repulsed, Earnhardt has succeeded in recruiting a few new fans to the Church of Banana and Mayo Sandwiches.
