Once again the adorable #DogsAtPollingStations hashtag is the best thing about UK election day

What a fine tradition.

BACK IN 2015 – on the day of the last British General Election vote – the delightful #DogsAtPollingStations was born.

A simple concept, #DogsAtPollingStations featured people snapping pictures of their pooches out taking part in the democratic process – by standing outside polling stations.

A lot has happened since *cough* but it’s nice to know that some things never change.

Today the #DogsAtPollingStations hashtag made its glorious return

They’re here to canvas on the big issues

They know the importance of democracy

The candidate comes first, not the pawty for Phoebe

Despite its popularity over the last two years, #DogsAtPollingStations has swept Twitter like never before

A landslide victory for the dogs.

Twitter, knowing what was coming today, even made a little dog emoji to go with the hashtag:

There were squads spotted outside polling stations

Just here to add some life to an otherwise dull setting

Some struggled to make it in, but were there in spirit

You’ll get there one day <3

There were some protests spotted though, casting a shadow on an otherwise peaceful process

From novices to old hands, they all turned out

#DogsAtPollingStations is definitely here to stay.

Follow it in all its glory as the election day plays out here.
