Everyone fell in love with Paddy and Lauren on First Dates Ireland tonight

It’s BACK.

FIRST DATES IRELAND was one of the breakout telly hits of 2016, and even though we’re only a couple of weeks into the new year it’s already back on our screens.

And it was quite the opening episode.

Matteo was the first person on screen

He’s also back! Along with the bartender and everyone else from last year.

Promising.

The first two daters in were Lauren and Paddy – and both of them were on their first *ever* dates

Their opening gambits were… interesting and adorable

We were liking this pair early on though, a potential match was definitely on the cards

Paddy guessed Lauren’s favourite TV show and her favourite musician ON THE FIRST GO

This conspiracy runs deep.

How did he know?

There was a Monster Munch prediction later that also proved correct by him. The magician.

Paddy doesn’t ask for much in a partner, in fairness

Lauren spoke to Paddy about more than just Breaking Bad and Ed Sheeran though – as she told him about her cystic fibrosis and the loss of her little sister

Everyone was rooting for her

It was a quality date that moved from jokes to serious topics and back again.

Then when the moment of truth came… they both fancied each other!

Oh thank god.

We were in love

The first couple up were also one of the best we’ve seen

Patiently waiting for the update at the end…

They had some sad news for us

But Lauren is back home now and “another date is on the cards”

And RTÉ 2 updated everyone on Twitter to let us know that they’ve been to the zoo together since <3

The nation wants these two to work out

A quality opening night, with four matches in total

Unprecedented.

Paddy and Lauren, good luck lads <3
