PADDY POWER + CONTROVERSY = no surprise.
So it’s no surprise really that the betting company’s latest ad, referencing the odds it’soffering in the run up to the marriage equality referendum, is raising eyebrows.
Meanwhile, Paddy Power has issued a press release to accompany the ad campaign, with the heading:
In the statement the bookies calls the campaign “tongue-in-cheek” and details how it
…..depicts a balaclava clad newlywed couple sharing a tender moment accompanied with the headline ‘Tiocfaidh Ár Lá’.
Paddy Power is offering odds of 1/10 on the referendum passing while also predicting that Dún Laoghaire will emerge as Ireland’s “gayest constituency”.
A spokesperson for the company told DailyEdge.ie:
We make no apologies for having a bit of fun to publicise our odds on the outcome of the Marriage Equality referendum. It is not motivated or designed to be insulting to anyone.
Dublin got an official Snapchat story. Here’s how we looked.
