MOST PEOPLE REMEMBER Barney the Dinosaur as the singing purple friend of their youth. But this teenager? Not so much.
Earlier this week, Darby Risner was at a sleepover with some friends when she decided to scare them by donning the head from a giant Barney the Dinosaur costume that was hanging around their church.
However, the joke ended up being on her when the giant head fell down over her shoulders – her mother told AL.com:
When [her friends] finally came down, she got up and realised it had dropped so low, she couldn’t get it off. It gave her short little Barney arms since it was nearly at her elbows. It was hilarious.
When your own mam can do nothing but laugh at your plight, eh?
They slathered Vaseline all over the 15-year-old’s arms in an attempt to remove it, to no avail:

“It’s hurting my upper arms and it took a long time for these things to get big.” Oh Darby, you ticket.
So they took Darby to the fire station, and her 45-minute ordeal ended when firefighters cut off the head.
“When they walked in, you couldn’t help but start laughing,” said one firefighter. “We tried to be professional, and she was a little distraught, but we had to giggle about it.”
Look at them there! Hooting away.
Darby’s sorry tale was tweeted by a friend, and soon began to go viral – she says she’s able to see the funny side now.
It was such a relief. I have laughed about it.
